Heart attack now not only attacks the elderly but also young people. A heart attack does not suddenly appear because before the attack comes there are signs from the body.
But these signs are often ignored. In fact, according to a research from MIDAS in Milan, Italy, in 2006, almost about 52 percent of people with coronary heart disease did not experience chest pain or often referred to as silent ischemia.
According to mayoclinic, coronary heart disease is a disease caused by narrowing or blockage of coronary arteries, the blood vessels that will drain blood to carry nutrients and oxygen needed by the heart muscle to pump blood to the whole body.
Human heart pumps blood around the body constantly at around 4-5 liters of blood per minute. Therefore, if blood flow is not smooth, it can cause damage to heart muscles that causes heart pumps disorders (heart failure) and death.
Things that triggers a heart attack include excessive exercise, anger with a lot of emotion or other activities done excessively.
There are at least 5 signs of a heart attack to watch out for:
1. Feeling pressure (pressed, pain, pinched and burned), which causes shortness of breath and choking on the neck.
2. The pain may spread to the left arm, neck and back.
3. The pain can last about 15-20 minutes and occur continuously.
4. Cold sweat, weak body, heart palpitations and even fainting.
5. The pain can be reduced when resting, but will increase if you do activities.
There are some things you can do to prevent heart attacks, such as keeping levels of fat blood cholesterol, keeping blood pressure under control, stop smoking, avoid fatty foods, fruit and vegetable consumption, exercise regularly, lose weight and reduce stress.
