10 Things That Can Ruin Your Diet

If you find it very difficult to run your diet program, according to Dr Sarah Schenker, a nutritionist from England, maybe you have unknowingly sabotaged your own diet program. Well here are some things that can ruin your diet program, according to dailymail.
1. Choosing nuts as snacks.
Research shows that nuts really make us feel full longer than spicy snacks like chips or crakers. Nuts are also rich in nutrients and fiber. But nuts are also full of calories and saturated fat. A handful of peanuts, for example, contains 150 calories. “So have one or two nuts, do not eat a handful,” said Schenker.
2. Weighing every day.
Water content in the body can cause changes in body weight which fluctuates every day. So this is not good indicator for weight loss. Schenker said, “Weigh once a week. Do it at the same time and day, with a minimum use of clothing – and after you go to the toilet.”
3. Eat plenty of fruits.
Although fruits are healthy, it does not mean that fruit can lose weight. Research shows sugar in fruit or fructose does not trigger the body to give a response of feeling full as given by ordinary sugar. It means that fruit is good, but not enough to satisfy. “You may eat lots of fruit, but accompanied with a little protein such as from meat, to make you feel full,” said Schenker.
4. Drink extra calories.
Hanging out with friends fun indeed. Especially if accompanied by a cappuccino or warm sweet tea. But be careful, usually the standard cappuccino contains 120 calories plus 8 grams of fat. Then the extra milk in eight tea cup is equivalent to extra 400 calories. “Replace it with skim milk which contains 20 calories per cup or choose a herbal tea.”
5. Eat chicken skin.
Replacing red meat with poultry meat is a wise choice to cut calories, but only if you leave the skin, because it contains a lot of fat.
6. Changing drinks with diet drinks.
Various studies prove that diet can still be successful with ordinary pure water with no zero-calorie drinks. Artificial sweeteners trigger digestive process, which ultimately will leave feeling of unsatisfied and hungry. So diet drinks actually makes you want to eat more.
7. Salad dressing.
Salad containing vegetables or fruits is good. What needs to be watched is the dressing. “So always ask the waiter to separate the dressing for the salad, so you can reduce the portion.”
8. Boring strict diet without tolerance.
Diet consultants generally agree that one’s may be strict on his/her diet program by 80 percent. The rest, 20 percent, give your body with such leniency by letting you occasionally eat your favorite chocolate for example.
9. Fooled by diet foods
Low-fat foods are usually full of sugar and low sugar foods are usually high in fruit concentrate. It all makes us think that diet food is good, we can eat more. Be diligent read food labels and the differences between versions of the diet and not diet, and see what you’ll find.
10. No tolerance for fat
The body also needs fat to function properly, causing a longer sense of comfort. A study at the University of Alabama, United States, found a bit of fat on a low calorie diet can actually lose weight. The point should not refuse fat completely, but try to eat a more varied diet with portion control.
