Little girls would prefer to play with dolls than video games. But in fact, from a study conducted by researchers from Brigham Young University, Utah, United States of girls aged 11 to 16 years, playing video games with their parents will stimulate their development to turn into a more obedient child.
“Video games are synonymous with boys. But playing games with parents make girls behave better, have a good inner contact with family, and have good mental health, “says professor Sarah Coyne, head of the research team, according to Physorg.
The study involved 287 families with adolescent children and used a variety of video games like Mario Kart, Mario Brothers, Wii Sports, Rock Band and Guitar Hero which are widely played by girls.
Besides those games, Call of Duty, Wii Sports and Halo are ones also often played by boys.
From a research, it was revealed that there are differences in the impact of playing video games, especially when played in teams, between parents and boys and parents and daughters.
“For the boys, playing video games with their parents do not show significant results,” said Coyne. “However, it is different if the game is played by the father and daughter. Playing teams with parents could increase bond between of relationship. ”
With the growing strength of the relationship of parents and children, Coyne says, children will become more obedient and happy. “For boys, playing with friends is more fun than playing with their parents,” he said.
